Questions about adding subtitles
Is adding subtitles free?
Generating timed subtitles uses your Pro transcription allowance. Previewing, styling, and exporting the captioned video use no additional transcription minutes. Re-exporting does not transcribe the video again.
Which videos and devices can I use?
Start with an MP4 video. Format support depends on your browser and the codecs in the file. Desktop export supports up to 30 minutes and 500 MB; phones and tablets support up to 10 minutes and 200 MB. Use a recent desktop Chrome for the best starting experience.
Can I translate subtitles or upload an SRT file?
This Beta creates subtitles in the language spoken in your video. Subtitle translation and importing your own SRT or VTT for video export are not available yet.
Does exporting change the video quality?
Export keeps the original resolution and frame rate, with even-dimension adjustments where required. Adding subtitles re-encodes the video, so it is not a lossless copy and does not sharpen a blurry source.
Where is my video processed?
Pro transcription sends audio for cloud processing. Caption preview and video export run in your browser. Keep the page open until export finishes.
